Eurosport HD expands footprint

European sports channel Eurosport is expanding the distribution of its HDTV channel with the service now available on the cable networks of Cablecom, Switzerland’s largest cable company.With the move, Eurosport HD is now available for the first time in German-speaking Europe. The channel, which Cablecom will offer in English and Italian, forms part of subscription package sport&more for SFr7.50 (€4.70) per month and cablecom collection for SFr15 (€9.40) per month. On December 7 French pay-TV operator CanalSat will incorporate the TV station into its bouquet distributed via satellite and ADSL.
Eurosport HD was launched on May 25. The channel, which simulcasts Eurosport’s programmes in high definition, is already available in 24 countries, including the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Turkey and Russia.
Negotiations with platform operators for distribution in further countries, including Germany, are currently taking place.
