Satellite operator SES Astra and German production and distribution company Unitel Classica have extended their “Festival Summer of Classics”: Selected classical music concerts will be shown in high-definition via Astra (19.2° East) until the end of October.
The broadcasts take place on SES Astra’s free-to-air HD showcase
channel on the frequency 11.914 GHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 9/10). According
to the partners, strong demand and positive feedback were the reasons
for the decision to extend the service, which was originally scheduled
to run until the end of September.
Each evening from 19.00 CET, seven hours of recordings of classical
music concerts and operas are transmitted, for example from this year’s
Festivals in Bayreuth and Salzburg and the Valencia opera house, as
well as a documentary about the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra.
Unitel Classica is currently preparing the launch of an international
pay-TV channel in HDTV for lovers of classical music and operas. The
company already operates Classica, a music channel in
standard-definition which is available in Germany and Austria on
Premiere’s pay-TV platform as well as in Italy, Spain and Japan.
