Sci-Fi, the NBC Universal Global Networks TV channel brand, will be one of the main daily programming blocks on Italy's new TV channel Steel.

Steel is due to be launched by Mediaset as part of the digital-terrestrial pay TV service Premium Gallery on January 19.

The new channel's programming will be a mix of movie and entertainment programming and it will have its point of strength in the library content of Universal Pictures and Warner. Both the Hollywood majors have signed four-year output deals with Mediaset for all media (free, pay and ppv on satellite, terrestrial and IPTV). The deals run from 2008 to the end of 2011 - €420 million for Universal, €380 million for Warner. - January 14 2008
